Create Writers

Within each of the following creative writing workshops, students explore writing through fun, engaging prompts and activities whilst learning about themselves and the wider world.

As a singer-songwriter and creative writing facilitator, Ben has led workshops focussing on music composition and narrative writing for leading schools and organisations around the world.

Whether it is through songwriting or narration, these workshops are designed to help students develop their writing, editing, and critical thinking skills, whilst building confidence and self-esteem. Not only do opportunities such as these increase serotonin levels linked to depression and anxiety but they offer opportunities for individuals to develop their comprehensive skills, exposure to new language and promote a sense of empathy towards themselves and others.

Practising creative writing allows children to develop their own unique voice and share their perspective without limitations: expressing how they feel about the world both internally and externally.

    Storytelling

These workshops are offered as a whole-day workshop or as a program that is run over a series of sessions, either over the course of a week or term.

Children are introduced to the fundamental elements of effective narrative writing such as storyboards, plot points, protagonist development, pinch points, themes and point of view.

Depending on the duration of the workshop or programme, students will either leave with a deepened understanding of narrative writing that they can implement within their lessons, or complete the course with their very own short story.

    Musical Theatre Workshops

With the increasing popularity of famous children's books and stories being transformed into musicals, this workshop invites children to create their own stories through song.

Taking classic musical numbers from shows such as Frozen, The Lion King, Matilda and Disney classics, students will work together to create their own renditions.

As well as musical games and opportunities for performance development, students will also work together to rewrite a musical number and perform it as an ensemble.
